Likely causes, most common first
- Large pressure difference before starting the compressor (unsatisfactory pressure equalization)
- Defective compressor
- Defective main PCB (A1P)
What you can safely check yourself
- Turn the system off at the breaker or disconnect switch, leave it off a few minutes so pressures equalize, and turn it back on once
When to call a technician
If L9 repeats, a technician has to check the refrigerant system for a restriction and test the compressor.
A Daikin mini-split throwing this code repeatedly has a reason — clearing the code without fixing the cause just hides it.
