HVAC Code Lookup

Safety disclaimer

HVAC Code Lookup is an informational reference. It reports what equipment manufacturers publish in their installation and service manuals. It is not a repair manual, does not provide professional advice, and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any manufacturer named on the site. Brand names are used to identify the equipment the cited documents describe.

Gas furnaces and heat pumps involve combustible gas, high voltage, moving parts, and carbon monoxide. The “safe checks” listed on code pages are limited to actions manufacturers describe in their owner-facing documentation (filters, vents, thermostat, breakers, condensate drains, a single power-cycle reset). Everything else — opening burner compartments, testing or replacing components, working on gas piping or wiring, resetting tripped safety switches — requires a licensed HVAC technician. Never bypass, jumper, or defeat a limit switch, rollout switch, pressure switch, or any other safety device, for any reason.

Codes and their meanings vary by model and control-board revision, and manufacturers revise manuals. Confirm against the manual for your exact model (each page links the document and model series it describes) before drawing conclusions, and treat your technician's on-site diagnosis as authoritative over anything written here.
