Daikin Mini-Split Code E9
Soft lockout
Moving part of electronic expansion valve (Y1E, Y3E) abnormality. No current was detected through the expansion valve coil common line at power-up, so the control assumes the valve or its wiring is open.
Manual wording: “E9 Moving part of electronic expansion valve (Y1E, Y3E) abnormality”
Documented for: RMXS multi-split outdoor units
Likely causes, most common first
- Disconnection of connectors for electronic expansion valve Y1E or Y3E
- Defective moving part of electronic expansion valve
- Defective main PCB (A1P)
What you can safely check yourself
- Turn the system off at the breaker or disconnect switch, wait a minute, and turn it back on once
When to call a technician
The expansion valve and its coil are inside the outdoor unit's refrigerant section. Only a technician should check the coil continuity or replace the valve.
A Daikin mini-split throwing this code repeatedly has a reason — clearing the code without fixing the cause just hides it.
