Daikin Mini-Split Code E7
Soft lockout
DC fan lock (outdoor fan motor abnormality). The outdoor fan did not start within 15 to 30 seconds of being commanded to run.
Manual wording: “E7 DC fan lock”
Documented for: RKS/RXS pair outdoor units, FTXM-W/V outdoor units, RMXS multi-split outdoor
Likely causes, most common first
- Foreign matter stuck in the fan
- Defective fan motor
- Defective outdoor unit PCB
- Fan motor connector disconnected
What you can safely check yourself
- Turn the system off at the breaker or disconnect switch, then look through the outdoor unit's fan grille for leaves, ice, plastic bags or other debris
- Clear away anything blocking the fan or the coil from outside the cabinet
- Turn the power back on once after clearing the blockage
When to call a technician
If the fan is clear and E7 comes back, the outdoor fan motor or control board is at fault. Do not remove the fan guard or reach into the cabinet.
A Daikin mini-split throwing this code repeatedly has a reason — clearing the code without fixing the cause just hides it.
