Rheem Furnace Code 0
Status
Standby. The furnace is idle: there is no fault present and no call from the thermostat. This is the normal display when nothing is running.
Manual wording: “STANDBY MODE ... This code is displayed anytime there is no fault present and no thermostat call present. The furnace is idle.”
Documented for: (-)97V, (-)96V, (-)801S/(-)801P and other 7-segment Rheem/Ruud furnace controls
Likely causes, most common first
- Normal standby - no thermostat demand
What you can safely check yourself
- Nothing to do. If you expected heat, check the thermostat is set to HEAT and the setpoint is above room temperature.
When to call a technician
If the thermostat is calling for heat and the display still reads 0, the thermostat wiring or the control may need a technician.
A Rheem furnace throwing this code repeatedly has a reason — clearing the code without fixing the cause just hides it.
