What you can safely check yourself
- Clear snow and ice away from around, under, and on top of the outdoor unit
- Make sure the outdoor unit is not sitting in a drift or a spot where roof runoff pours onto it
- Check and clean the indoor air filters
When to call a technician
If the outdoor unit is clear of snow and CH63 returns, the defrost system, charge, or the coil sensor needs a technician. Do not chip ice off the coil - the fins and refrigerant tubing damage easily.
A LG mini-split throwing this code repeatedly has a reason — clearing the code without fixing the cause just hides it.
