Outdoor unit inverter compressor PCB heat sink temperature is too high. The aluminium heat sink that cools the inverter power module is overheating, usually because the outdoor unit is in a hot, cramped spot or its airflow is blocked.

Likely causes, most common first

  1. Improper installation environment (outdoor unit in a tight, unventilated location)
  2. Overload operation - outdoor fan restricted, screened, or blocked
  3. Poor PCB heat sink assembly (heat sink not making good contact)
  4. Poor PCB temperature sensing circuit parts

What you can safely check yourself

  • Clear leaves, grass clippings, snow, or debris away from the outdoor coil and fan
  • Remove anything stacked against or on top of the outdoor unit and give it clear space on all sides
  • Check nothing is blowing hot exhaust (dryer vent, another condenser) into the outdoor unit
  • Let the unit cool, then turn it off at the breaker for three minutes and back on

When to call a technician

If the outdoor unit has clear airflow and CH62 returns, the heat sink mounting or its sensor is at fault and needs a technician. If the unit is genuinely in too tight a space, it may need relocating.

A LG mini-split throwing this code repeatedly has a reason — clearing the code without fixing the cause just hides it.
