Goodman Furnace Code OFF
Hard lockoutShown as: off
No light at all on the control board. Either the furnace has no power, the board fuse is blown, or the control board itself has failed.
Manual wording: “Control Failure / No Power / Internal Fault / IRQ Loss”
Documented for: Goodman GMS8, GMH8, GDS8, GDH8, GHS8, GME8, GMES80, GCES80, GMSS92, GMSS96, GCSS96 (single red diagnostic LED)
Likely causes, most common first
- Manual disconnect switch OFF, door switch open, or 24 volt wires improperly connected or loose
- Blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker
- Integrated control module has an internal fault
What you can safely check yourself
- Check the furnace breaker in the electrical panel and reset it once if it has tripped
- Check that the switch on or near the furnace (it looks like a light switch) is turned on
- Check that the furnace door panel is fully closed and seated - the door switch cuts all power when the panel is off
When to call a technician
If the breaker, service switch and door panel are all right and there is still no light, the transformer, board fuse or control board needs a technician.
A Goodman furnace throwing this code repeatedly has a reason — clearing the code without fixing the cause just hides it.
