Fujitsu Mini-Split Code 94

Soft lockoutShown as: OPERATION lamp blinks 9 times, TIMER lamp blinks 4 times, ECONOMY lamp blinking continuously

Over current error (trip detection). The compressor tripped on overcurrent immediately after starting, ten times consecutively, so the unit shut down.

Manual wording: “Over Current Error - Protection stop by overcurrent generation after inverter compressor start processing completed generated consecutively 10 times.

Documented for: RL2, RLS2, RLS3, RLB/RLXB, RLF, RLF1, RGLX, RLE, LUAS1, LMAS, LZBS, LZAS, LPAS series

Likely causes, most common first

  1. Clogged outdoor heat exchanger restricting airflow
  2. Defective condenser fan motor
  3. Discharged air being pulled back into the outdoor unit (short cycling of air)
  4. Compressor or inverter fault

What you can safely check yourself

  • Check the outdoor coil for heavy dirt, cottonwood, grass clippings, or leaves and clear away anything blocking it
  • Make sure the outdoor unit has clearance on all sides and its discharge air is not blowing into a wall or fence and back into the coil
  • Turn the power off at the disconnect for about 5 minutes, then restore power

When to call a technician

If airflow is clear and the code returns, the condenser fan motor or the compressor circuit has to be tested by a licensed technician.

A Fujitsu mini-split throwing this code repeatedly has a reason — clearing the code without fixing the cause just hides it.
