This brand does not publish a serial-number date code, and the decoders that claim to read one disagree with each other. The good news is you do not need one. The metal rating plate carries an explicit manufacture date: look for a line reading MFG DATE, DATE OF MFR, or a plain MM/YYYY near the model and serial numbers.

Where to find the serial on a Daikin
- Gas furnace: open the front door. The rating plate is on the inside side wall, usually near the top.
- Outdoor AC or heat pump: a metal or foil plate on the back or side of the cabinet, near where the copper lines enter.
- Mini-split: on the side of the outdoor unit, and on the indoor head behind the front flap or on its right side.
- Photograph the plate rather than copying it by hand. Misreading 0 for O, 1 for I or 5 for S is the most common reason a lookup fails.
